PARTNERS

The University of Connecticut’s Puerto Rican Studies Initiative for Civic Engagement and Public Policy was founded in the late summer/fall of 2023 with an initial grant from the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA).

This initiative was a collaboration between Professor/Director Charles R. Venator-Santiago and Connecticut State Representative Minnie Gonzalez (Hartford-D3). Since then, the UConnPRSI has been funded by grants from the Connecticut General Assembly. The UConnPRSI is presently housed in the Storrs and Hartford Campuses.

The Puerto Rican Studies Initiative for Community Engagement and Public Policy is a research initiative seeking to document and support Puerto Ricans’ vital economic, intellectual, and cultural contributions to Connecticut and to provide research-based support for the development of public policies addressing the needs of Puerto Ricans in the State of Connecticut.
